Venue and Travel

Venue

The Workshop is being held at the University of Cambridge, Department of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology, Philippa Fawcett Drive, Cambridge CB3 0AS, UK.  Information on how to reach the Department may be found here.

Air

The closest airport is London Stansted with regular connections to many cities in Europe and nearly 200 cities worldwide.

Stansted is a 40 minute drive from Cambridge. A pre-booked taxi costs around £45.

If you fly into London Heathrow or Gatwick, allow at least 2 hours to reach Cambridge by road. A taxi costs around £120 from Heathrow and £140 from Gatwick.

Taxis

The venue is a 20-30 minute taxi journey from Cambridge Railway Station and costs between £10 and £15 with Panther Taxis (+44 (0)1223 715715) and Camcab (+44 (0)1223 704704).

Bus

The West Cambridge Site is served well by four bus routes.

The Universal bus and the X3 (both run by Whippet) come to the West Cambridge Site. There is no stop directly outside CEB, but stops outside the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM) or the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy (MSM) are very close by.

There is also the Citi 4 and the Madingley Road Park & Ride which are run by Stagecoach.

Bike hire

By far the easiest way to travel around Cambridge is by bicycle. There are numerous cycle rentals in the city, including Station Cycles with stores at various locations, and City Cycle Hire just to the west of the city centre. Prices are around £10 per day or £25 per week, plus a deposit of £40-60.

Internet access

Internet access during the conference will be most easily achieved using eduroam:

https://www.eduroam.org/

Like many research and academic institutions worldwide, the Department uses eduroam and we encourage participants to setup an account with their home institution if they do not have one already.

For those unable to use eduroam, we will issue WiFi accounts at the registration desk.
