EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sensor Technologies and Applications in an Uncertain World

EPSRC Studentships

We have reopened applications for home-fee rate, fully-funded EPSRC studentships. To be eligible for these studentships, you must have the status of a home-fees student (see below). The new deadline is 4 May.

These studentships will:

  • cover your University fees (at home fees level),
  • provide you with a maintenance grant at the UKRI level, which usually increases annually and is not subject to UK income tax or national insurance,
  • include a Research Training and Support Grant you can use for other training costs, such as attending a conference.

If you submit an application and meet the eligibility criteria, we will automatically consider you for EPSRC funding.

Fee status

The course fees depend on whether you are a home or overseas student.

If you are unsure of your fee status, we advise that you consult the UKCISA Guidance.

Unfortunately, we are not able to confirm fee status before the point of offer. If you are made an offer of admission to the University, your offer will state what we believe your fee status to be. This will be based on the information you have provided in your application form, and according to the relevant UK legislation, regulations and guidance published by the UK Government. The University has published further guidance about this process

Other Funding

Applicants will also be considered for funding through the University funding competition, which includes Gates Cambridge, Harding and the Cambridge Trust.

No separate application normally needs to be considered for scholarships administered by the University of Cambridge. However, it is important to research all options thoroughly, tick the relevant boxes in your application, and provide supporting statements where required.

Please note the following application deadlines if you would like to be considered for funding administered by the University:

Gates Scholarship for US citizens - 16 October 2024
Gates Scholarship for non-US citizens - 07 January 2025
Graduate Funding Competition - 07 January 2025

More information about applying for University funding is available on Postgraduate Study funding page.

External Funding

Some of our students are able to secure funding from other international or national sources. Applicants can provide information on external funding at the point of application or later. Please note that the offer of a place in the programme is based on academic merit and is not influenced by the availability of external funding.
