Sensors Day 2018

Sensors Day is the flagship event of the Sensor CDT. Students, academics and industry experts, all with an interest in sensor technologies, meet for an interesting line-up of invited speakers and student presentations.

Sensors Day 2018 showcased highlights of sensor research and applications from all areas of science and technology. A diverse field of speakers covered communication, sustainability, healthcare and artificial intelligence, from sensors for environmental monitoring to the ethics of data usage. Supporters of the Sensor CDT gave short talks in an industry pitching session, and researchers presented their work in poster sessions. The day before, Sensor CDT PhD students met at Murray Edwards College for a student showcase.

For their Team Challenge, the 2017–18 MRes cohort developed a low-cost air pollution sensor which could be built and used by the public, and presented their results at the conference.

Poster prizes

Congratulations to Tiesheng Wang (Sensor CDT), who won first prize in the poster competition, and to Philipp Koehler (NanoDTC, Department of Physics and Department of Chemistry), who won second prize. Thanks to Magna for sponsoring the prizes.
