Title: Open Data Sharing - A Practical Guide
Speaker: Leonie Mueck, Division Editor or PLOS
Venue: Johnson Matthey Lecture Theatre (LT2), Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Philippa Fawcett Drive, Cambridge CB3 0AS
Description: Since March 2014, all PLOS journals require that the minimal dataset necessary to replicate published results is made openly available. Recent analysis of our data availability statements suggests that, while the vast majority of researchers formally comply with our policy, encouraging scientific communities to fully embrace the philosophy of open data sharing may require more work. As a remedy, we are discussing data sharing standards with the scientific community in order to make open data truly FAIR - findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable. Leonie will talk about the practical aspects of sharing data openly for better transparency and reproducibility and hopes to discuss with the audience what FAIR data sharing would mean in their field of study.
