EPSRC CDT in Sensor Technologies for a Healthy and Sustainable Future

Research

Axel Zeitler’s main interest is in the characterisation of condensed matter samples with a direct link into chemical engineering. More specifically, in the Terahertz Applications group they exploit the sensitivity of terahertz radiation for a number of applications i.e. the study of physicochemical properties of pharmaceutical materials and catalysts and the characterization of fundamental properties of glasses and the dynamics of biomolecules. Further fields of interest are non-destructive imaging (i.e. probing the structure of polymer coatings of pharmaceutical tablets) and the development, together with industry, of a new generation of terahertz sensors capable of providing real-time data and operating under industrial conditions.
